Kenosha Officer Who Shot Jacob Blake Seven Times Is BACK On Duty And Will Not Be Charged

The Kenosha police officer who last year critically shot a young Wisconsin father reportedly won’t face discipline and is already back on duty.

On August 23 last year, Officer Rusten Sheskey shot 29-year-old father Jacob Blake in the back seven times while the police were responding to a report of a “domestic incident.”

In a video from the time of the incident, Blake was seen walking away from the police and opening the door on the driver’s side of his car, prompting Officer Sheskey to shoot him seven times.

While protesters demanded the cop responsible for leaving the father paralyzed gets charged, investigators now concluded that Sheskey won’t face discipline and may return to his job.

According to the authorities, the video from the time of the shooting failed to show the part where Blake resisted arrest and was armed with a knife. As the 29-year-old also admitted according to The New York Times, he held a knife and switched it from one hand to another during the arrest.

Following the Kenosha confrontation, Sheskey was placed on administrative leave. After an investigation completed by an external agency, however, it was concluded that the young officer won’t be charged and may return to work.

“The Kenosha Police use of force incident on August 23, 2020 was investigated by an outside agency; has been reviewed by an independent expert as well as the Kenosha County District Attorney,” Kenosha PD revealed in a media release.

“Officer Sheskey was not charged with any wrong doing. He acted within the law and was consistent with training. This incident was also reviewed internally. Officer Sheskey was found to have been acting within policy and will not be subjected to discipline.”

Police Chief Daniel G. Miskinis went on to reveal that the officer in question has resumed his duties on March 31, 2021.

“Although this incident has been reviewed at multiple levels, I know that some will not be pleased with the outcome; however, given the facts, the only lawful and appropriate decision was made,” the police chief added.
