The officials from the city of Kenosha in Wisconsin have rejected all forms of damage claims made by Jacob Blake, despite his massive injuries and paralysis, due to the police.
According to reports, a white police officer from Kenosha fired seven bullets at the black man last year during the summertime, leaving Jacob Blake paralyzed for life.
Now, news has broken relating to how all of Blake’s claims regarding damage charges have been rejected- a decision that took place during a meeting in Kenosha where the City Council members unanimously decided the verdict.
Moreover, while the state of Wisconsin has capped off his claims of $50,000- Jacob Blake’s lawyers also made a request for some special charges, keeping in mind all of his medical costs, lost wages, as well as the expenses relating to his massive pain and suffering as well as his disfigurement that took place due to his injuries, as mentioned in a recent petition that was filed.
But the city council went about rejecting every single one of those claims with a 17-0 vote, which thoroughly rejected his request without any form of comment and deliberation made amongst the different council members. This piece of information was confirmed by the Kenosha News recently.
On the other hand, John Morrissey who is the City Administrator spoke about the incident on Thursday, where he called the filing of the petition for damage claims an absolute formality that would go about allowing Blake to press charges for more damages that had been recently limited by the Wisconsin law.
In January of this year, prosecutors opted to refrain from pressing charges against the white police officer who fired seven rounds of bullets at Jacob Blake, in a violent attempt to arrest him.
The officer was identified as Rusten Sheskey.
This decision was reportedly taken based upon evidence that was not seen or captured on video footage, which included how Blake was armed with a knife.
