Same was the case with a family from Chile whose child, Ignacia Sanmartin, had a lymphangioma on her neck and face.

The tumor was filled with fluid and although it was non-cancerous, with the passage of time, it became so big that it started blocking wind-pipe.

For Ignacia, it started becoming very difficult to breathe. But luckily doctors operated her for almost 14 hours and have successfully removed the tumor.

They found out that it was consist of tiny cysts and wasn’t cancerous. But there can be a possibility that the tumor can start growing back so the doctors will be closely examining her for the next few months.

Before the operation, Ignacia’s mother said, ‘When she gets sick or gets a cold she can’t breathe properly.

Sometimes the tumor hurts Ignacia when it grows.” Her dad also explained,  ‘The other day she came to me and said, ‘Daddy, big, big.’ So as she gets older, she’s starting to realize her face is not the same as the other kids’. It worries us a lot.’

This operation was done by a maxillofacial surgeon, Dr.Gonzalo Rossel. After the operation, he said, ‘In the future, it’s likely there [would] be an increase in compression and we could have problems with the operation of the airway. So it’s really important that we remove a tumor now.’

Since Ignacia was born, their parents have been fighting with the bullies and have been protecting their child from bullying comments.

Ignacia’s mother said that some people were calling her monster and other kids would not play with her.
