Thousands of poor kids will get free breakfasts in England in an effort to stop them from going hungry to school.
As Boris Johnson announced to give £21million into the meals and holiday clubs, children at around 650 schools in England will get free breakfast.
The main objective of the move is to stop children from going hungry to school.
Schools minister Lord Agnew said that no child should go to school hungry and they want every child to be healthy and happy regardless of their background.
He said: “We want every child to lead a healthy, active and happy lifestyle regardless of their background. That’s why we are giving thousands more children in disadvantaged areas the opportunity to attend a breakfast club, which will help boost attendance, behaviour and attainment, helping them to achieve their best in school.”
David Holmes, chief executive of the charity Family Action that helps run the breakfast clubs, said: “It is literally fuelling learning.”
When the Internet users came to know about this decision, they praised the move of providing free breakfasts to stop children from going hungry to school.
One user wrote: ‘I think that’s brilliant! At least the kids won’t go hungry at school. Kids are the innocent ones they shouldn’t have to go hungry xx’ while another added: ‘I think that’s brilliant! At least the kids won’t go hungry at school. Kids are the innocent ones they shouldn’t have to go hungry xx’
The third one wrote: ‘A brilliant idea … however I really hope this will also be for the working families who are also living on the bread line . So many working families are living on less than those that don’t work.’
