Kim Kardashian retweeted Kanye West’s surprise announcement that he is running for US president this year, showing her full support.
But the 39-year-old reality TV star has also expressed concerns about her husband’s plans, according to People.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star had previously claimed she had warned her husband off entering politics.
In a 2016 interview with Wonderland, Kim said: “Look at all the awful things they’re doing to Melania [Trump], putting up the naked photos [of her]… I’ll say to Kanye: ‘Babe, you know the kind of photos they’d put up of me!’ Haha.”
The rapper announced on Saturday that he is running for president of the US this year, only four months before election day.
“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION,” he wrote on Twitter.
His tweet was met with mixed skepticism and reactions.
It is not clear if he has filed any paperwork to appear on ballots but there is no deadline to enter the presidential race.
While West has not shared further details about his plans, Kim has maintained that her husband’s support for President Trump does not mean he is a Republican.
In a 2019 interview with Vogue, Kim said: “He doesn’t represent either side. But he doesn’t want to be told what he should be. It can be confusing. I get it.
“The one thing that I respect so much is that he is who he is, no matter what anyone tries to tell him to do.”
