63-year-old Larry Yockey has been battling stage 4 cancer since he was diagnosed with the disease.
When he could no longer harvest his 1,200 acres worth of crop, almost 60 kindhearted people stepped in to help.
After hearing the sad news, farmers and volunteers from Adams County did not hesitate to organize a ‘harvest bee’ for Larry.
In an interview with CBS News, Mike Doyle, one of the Good Samaritans, said: “I’m just glad to be here and help where I can and where I’m needed.”
These kind people poured in their soul and heart to help Larry. In just six hours, a 3 week’s worth of work was finished by almost 60 compassionate people.
Yockyey, his wife and their three daughters watched in awe.
“It’s not describable the gratitude I have for what’s going on,” Yockey told CBS.
Pictures from Miles Pfaff show how amazing the event was. He said in his post that it was not only farmers who helped as there were also volunteers.
The local volunteer firemen and their trucks helped, as well as reliable mechanics and people from the chemical company.
One internet user commented: “What a great story, And Great Neighbors!”
Another wrote: “With all the hate and ugliness going on in the world today. it’s always good to see a few good hard-working people come together to help a neighbor God bless each and everyone of them.”
A third added: “Farmers are the most humble and helpful people of this good earth. If not for them we would all die of starvation.”
Someone else said: “Like a good neighbor, great farmers there. Bless his friends and neighbors.”
