Hollywood legend and Spartacus actor Kirk Douglas has left his entire fortune worth $60 million to charity purposes.
As it was revealed, Douglas didn’t leave any of his fortunes to Michael Douglas, his son, who is also a Hollywood actor with a net worth of $300 million.
Instead, the Hollywood legend, who died on February 7 at the age of 103, bequeathed all of his money to Douglas Foundation which will be responsible for distributing the funds towards charitable purposes.
As the Mirror has reported, some beneficiaries of the massive sum will include the Kirk Douglas Theatre, the Sinai Temple of Los Angeles, the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and more.
While the Champion actor’s donation proves that he has a heart of gold, Kirk and his wife, Anne, have long been known for making generous donations.
Following the 103-year-old’s passing, his 75-year-old son Michael took to social media to pay a tribute to his “legend” father whom he dubbed “a wonderful husband” and “a humanitarian.”
“It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103.
To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to,” Michael wrote.
“But to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband.
“Kirk’s life was well lived and he leaves a legacy in film that will endure for generations to come, and a history as a renowned philanthropist who worked to aid the public and bring peace to the planet.
“Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad- I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son.”
