Hours before his death in a helicopter crash, the NBA legend Kobe Bryant sent a text message to Shareef O’Neal.
20-year-old Shareef O’Neal, who is the son of Bryant’s Lakers teammate Shaquille O’Neal, revealed that Bryant had sent a message to him hours before the helicopter crash.
The text message read: “You good fam?”
“Yeah! Just been getting this work in trying to figure out my next move. How you been?”, Shareef replied.
Bryant didn’t reply to Shareef’s message. After Shareef learned about the death of Bryant in the helicopter crash, he shared the screenshot of the text message he received from Bryant hours before his death.
He wrote on Twitter: “Literally this morning you reached out to me ….? I love you forever unc❤️ I love you.”
In another tweet, he wrote: “GIGI❤️ love you cousin.”
Kobe Bryant with his daughter, Gianna, died in a helicopter crash on Sunday after the Sikorsky S-76 chopper flew into a mountain in Calabasas, California.
Celebrities took to social media to mourn the death of the NBA legend. Shareef’s father Shaq shared a heartfelt tribute as he wrote: “There’s no words to express the pain Im going through with this tragedy of loosing my niece Gigi & my brother @kobebryant.”
“I love you and you will be missed.
My condolences goes out to the Bryant family and the families of the other passengers on board.
I’M SICK RIGHT NOW.”
Ellen DeGeneres wrote: “Like everyone, I’m stunned and saddened by the news about Kobe Bryant. My heart is broken for his wife and family.”
Bryant and his daughter, Gianna were on their way to the NBA player’s Mamba Sports Academy youth training center in Thousand Oaks, California when they died in the helicopter crash.
Three bodies from the crash site have been recovered so far and taken to a forensic science centre for identification. While investigators are searching for more remains.
