The reality star said that like any other mother, she does feel the want to protect her children from hearing about the ugly aspects of life – especially those that may make them feel at risk or unstable.

However, she continued that racism is still very much prevalent in the world right now and that her maternal responsibilities of sharing facts with her children have outweighed the uneasiness and discomfort these talks often come with.

She flat out mentioned that the concept of white privilege is something that she will talk about with her children. Moreover, Kourtney said she will take the time and effort to learn and educate the history of African Americans regularly, not just on Black History month.

She then urged other mothers to use these days as an opportunity to speak frank and candid conversations with their children on any and all topics. Kourtney is the mother of three children – one daughter, Penelope Scotland, 10, and two sons, Mason Dash (10) and Reign Aston (5).

Kardashian also urged parents to be open-minded in these conversations. Saying that a conversation without judgement is critical in maintaining a healthy relationship with children, the mother of three said that parents may also find themselves learning from their young ones.

She said that sometimes, her children would ask her questions that she doesn’t know the answers to. In those instances, Kourtney says she explores the answers together with the children, rather than maintaining an authoritative position.

Although she thinks she acted mostly appropriate, Kourtney said she knows there is still much that she can learn and improve as a mother, aunt, friend and person. The issue of race must be one that is closer to the Kourtney, as she has nieces and nephews who are color.
