Kyle Rittenhouse recently broke down into tears while presenting his testimony during the high-profile trial.
The teen gunman who reportedly shot down two victims while critically wounding a third shocked the world when he took on a very emotional side that left the courtroom startled.
Now, many experts believe that his testimony may have been the biggest risk taken by the defense side but others add that it may actually prove to go in their favor, in the long run as the jury appeared to be taken aback.
The moments were so emotionally unexpected that the judge called for a break in between, as the teen and his mother just couldn’t stop crying.
“It’s a huge risk but maybe one that is going to be worthwhile,” an expert criminal lawyer from Wisconsin added. “To put an emotionally charged teen on the stand and allow him to speak was definitely a bold decision,” he went on to add.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old began testifying by shedding light upon the exact moment he shot down and killed Joseph Rosenbaum during a harrowing night of nothing but violence and unrest in Kenosha last year.
Similarly, other criminal attorneys spoke about how putting Rittenhouse up on the stand was just another way to show the teen in the most innocent and sympathetic manner imaginable.
“It’s a technique used to humanize the client so as get him as far away as possible from being a defendant but to reveal that he’s just another scared individual and very human too,” another expert in law added.
Meanwhile, others believe that this risk might prove to be fruitful as Kyle not only showed his innocence but his nervousness too during the moments where he fired rounds and killed two individuals. While the decision is still up in the air, many are seeing this as a new twist in the case.
