The 1955 classic film ‘Lady and the Tramp’ will always be in our hearts and people can’t wait to the see very-much-alive pups after Disney released the first official trailer for the live-action remake!
Disney unveiled the first official trailer of the live-action Lady and the Tramp on Friday at the D23 Expo and gave a glimpse into the adventures of Tramp, a mongrel pup, and Lady, the American Cocker Spaniel.
The short trailer also features some of the classic’s most memorable scenes, including the sweet moment the pooches share a bowl of spaghetti.
“I’ve got no leashes, or fences, with me, every day could be an adventure,” Tramp told Lady in the trailer as he tried to convince her to join the street-dog life.
The star of the beloved classic film is a rescue dog who had been in and out of kill shelters before he was found by the movie’s animal trainer.
2-year-old Monte is a terrier mix that stars as Tramp in the movie and it turned out the dog’s story of being in shelters and on the streets is not so different from that of his onscreen character.
Monte was about to be euthanized last year before HALO Animal Rescue saved him then transferred him to a shelter in Phoenix.
That’s where the animal trainer for the movie, Mark Forbes, found Monte and saw potential in him. He adopted the dog, trained him and had him audition in front of Disney executives.
Forbes promised to HALO that Monte would be a family pet after the filming.
The dog now enjoys the high life with trainer Forbes and his family, which also includes a baby and a raccoon.
Unlike recent live-action films, like Aladdin and The Lion King, the new furry tale will only be available on Disney+.
