The dognappers who stole Lady Gaga’s dogs and shot her dog walker have been arrested and charged over the February 27 incident.
Following two months after the robbery involving Lady Gaga’s beloved French bulldogs, it has been revealed that five people were arrested in connection to the case.
As TMZ reported, three suspects, including 27-year-old Lafayette Whaley, 19-year-old Jaylin White, and 18-year-old James Jackson are facing armed robbery and murder charges after shooting and nearly killing the singer’s dog walker, Ryan Fischer, before making a getaway with two of Lady Gaga’s three dogs.
Meanwhile, the police also identified two alleged accomplices, 40-year-old Harold White, Jaylin White’s father, and 50-year-old Jennifer McBride, White’s girlfriend.
The two suspects have since been accused of acting as accessories to the crime, whereas McBride was the one who took the two stolen dogs to a nearby police station after Lady Gaga offered a $500,000 reward.
Though the singer offered to pay half a million for a safe return of her dogs with “no questions asked,” she reportedly didn’t pay out the hefty sum to McBride after the police raised suspicions that the woman might be working with a dog-stealing ring.
As of this writing, all five suspects are being held on $1 million bail. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has been reunited with her beloved dogs, whereas Fischer, who was shot four times while trying to protect the bulldogs, is expected to make a full recovery.
“This was a brazen street crime that left a man seriously wounded. We have alleged very serious charges in this case and have faith that justice will be appropriately served as this case unfolds in court,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said of the case.
