Lady Gaga raised a massive sum of $10 million in a surprise FaceTime call with Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple.
She did that during the Tonight Show as a part of her fundraising project ‘One World – Together at Home.’
The fundraiser, which back the World Health Organization’s combat against the spread of coronavirus has collected $35 million in merely seven days.
Lady Gaga called Tim Cook on Jimmy Fallon’s socially distanced version of The Tonight Show, where she video calls the guest from home.
On the show, Gaga told Cook that they had spoken last night about a particular amount of donation, which was quite considerable. And, she just wanted to make sure whether or not they are still okay with that amount and can Cook confirm the donation.
To this, Cook responded that he could confirm and the company is very proud to be a part of this initiative. Later Jimmy Fallon revealed on the show that Cook has pledged to donate a whopping sum of $10 million to the project.
Lady Gaga has been collaborating with a lot of businesses and philanthropists to acquire the money along with organizing start-studded concerts.
The World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund will be utilized to fund the global requirement for personal protective equipment, testing kits and to improve the lab capacity to facilitate the tests.
During the WHO media briefing on Monday, Gaga said that the world is grateful to all the healthcare professionals across the nation and world who are fighting this global pandemic at the frontline.
Coronavirus has turned out to be catastrophic; however, she is grateful to the medical professionals and praying for the people who are suffering from this disease.
Lady Gaga concluded by saying it is her pleasure to collaborate with Global Citizen and raise money for WHO to fight the spread of coronavirus across the globe.
