Making a move towards equal banking rights to the community, Michigan approved Superbia Credit Union’s charter that will offer products and services to fulfil the financial needs of LGBTQ customers.
Economic studies have found that LGBTQ is a demographic that has the increasingly appealing potential of buying power for financial institutions.
Superbia is extending all the necessary systematic change in banking to pave the way for better banking services for the world’s only LGTBQ bank.
The credit union’s founder, Myles Meyers wrote in his tweet that all the government efforts are being made to make sure the community gets all kind of banking, insurance an healthcare services through us.
Superbia is most likely to offer products and services that are generally out of scope and often hard to receive, such as loans for transgender.
The LGBTQ centred credit union has started hiring executives for the new initiative right after Michigan’s approval. They are also planning to offer online services to customers by 2020.
Additionally, there are talks regarding an increased financial incentive for banking services that target LGBTQ customers. This initiative is taken to engage more and more financial institution into LGBTQ banking services.
When corporate America has embraced the LGBTQ community, the banking sector has made a little effort to come forward and give its contribution to leveraging the rights of the community.
Meyers has also stated in an interview that increased discrimination faced by the LGBTQ community in the financial sector has given rise to such sudden action.
Eradicating all the discrimination and offering the community appropriate financial services in the most efficient way possible are the critical components of Superbia’s marketing strategy.
