A Republican lawmaker in Mississippi punched his wife in the face because he wanted to have sex with her and she was not removing clothes fast enough.
State Rep. Douglas McLeod, 58, is now arrested and due to domestic violence done by him, he is facing calls for his resignation.
When Police reached his home in Lucedale, McLeod was holding a glass of alcohol. According to an incident report from the George County Sheriff’s Office, when they told him the assault, he replied, “are you kidding me.”
Police noticed that McLeod was in a state of intoxication as he had “slurred speech and was holding railing for support.
His wife was in deep fear and was shaking, she “had blood all over her face, neck, and arms”. She told Police that “he just snapped” and “this is what happens when he drinks too much.”
Another woman was in their house at the time of the assault and she told police that McLeod got angry because he wanted to have sex and his wife was removing clothes slowly.
His wife ran into the room of the second woman who was present there and locked the door, McLeod smacked the door and threatened to kill the dog. Police said he “was going to kill her f**** dog,” if they didn’t open the door.
McLeod was arrested on charges of domestic violence and was kept in George County Jail. A spokesperson for the George County Sheriff’s Office told BuzzFeed News, ‘’he is now out of jail on $1,000 bond.’’
Mississippi House Speaker Philip Gunn, a Republican, is calling for the lawmaker’s resignation “if … these allegations are true,” according to the Associated Press.
“I have attempted to contact Rep. McLeod to request his resignation if, in fact, these allegations are true,” Gunn said in a statement Tuesday. “These actions are unacceptable for anyone.”
