A former marine from the Royal British Army is going viral with his heartbreaking plea on evacuating over 174 pets from Kabul.
Pen Farthing claims his giant animal rescue vehicle was recently stopped and targeted by the members of the Taliban forces, who live just minutes away from him. Moreover, the former marine revealed his grim situation after his vehicle became surrounded by several men who wielded AK-47 rifles towards him, in an attempt to prevent him from passing the checkpoint with the animals.
Now, Pen says that he’s requesting help from Britain’s Government officials to assist him in making his rescue operation a success because he claims he just does not have the heart to leave these poor animals alone with the Taliban in Kabul.
With the deadline for evacuations from Kabul’s airport just days away, the US and UK are doing their level best to speed up with the flights that are taking their nationals out of war-torn Afghanistan. But Pen says that he simply can’t leave his rescue animals and staff behind and will do whatever it takes to get them out.
The animals which comprise around 79 cats and 94 dogs in total were held for nearly 10 hours as they were denied entry past the checkpoint and into the airport, the former British marine claims.
“They even shot my driver dead,” Pen mentioned in a heartbreaking message, hoping for his country to intervene and allow his safe and timely evacuation.
