NBA legend LeBron James has slammed the police and called for justice following the shooting of a father who was gunned down by the police in front of his children.
Responding to the footage that has gone viral since the Sunday afternoon incident, James appeared outraged as he called for justice.
“And y’all wonder why we say what we say about the Police!! Someone please tell me WTF is this???!!!” the basketball player wrote.
“Exactly another black man being targeted. This sh** is so wrong and so sad!! Feel so sorry for him, his family and OUR PEOPLE!! We want JUSTICE”
The basketball star is one of many people who have taken to social media to express their disgust and disagreement over the Sunday shooting of the father-of-three.
Another athlete who was quick to demand justice was Donovan Mitchell of Utah Jazz who suggested the incident in question is the reason “why we don’t feel safe.”
“F THE GAMES AND PLAYOFFS!!! THIS IS SICK AND IS A REAL PROBLEM WE DEMAND JUSTICE! ITS CRAZY I DONT HAVE ANY WORDS BUT WTF MAN! THIS IS WHY WE DONT FEEL SAFE!!!!” the basketball player wrote.
The outrage follows after the shooting of 29-year-old father Jacob Blake who was allegedly trying to solve a dispute between two women in Kenosha, Wisconsin, when the police arrived at the scene.
According to the reports, the police were unsuccessful in their attempt to subdue the father with a taser after he had allegedly failed to comply with their orders.
In a video obtained by TMX, Blake is seen walking away from the officers and making his way to the other side of his car. Meanwhile, two officers follow him with their guns pointed at the man’s back.
After the father reached and opened the driver’s door, he was shot in the back at least seven times by one or two of the police officers who followed him.
Following the shooting, the 29-year-old was rushed to the hospital. He is believed to be in a stable condition as of this writing.
