There’s a book by the American Minister and Author Robert Fulghum which says that whatever we learn, we learn in the kindergarten.
The title itself says ‘All I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten.’ The author explains how a kid learns about compassion, gratitude, kindness and much more during his kindergarten years.
The little kid is taught about the basic concept and the essential things in life. Just the same way, a sweet Kindergarten kid in the Birchwood, Wisconsin is melting hearts on social media with his daily routine.
A 5-year-old kid, Colin Baker, is in kindergarten at a small school in the Birchwood area. He is appointed to greet everyone in the morning. The kid Colin has Down Syndrome, but even after that, he is dedicated to doing his task with responsibility and happiness.
Sara Waldron who is the business and information technology teacher at the Birchwood School District told the ABC News that in that particular area many families are going through financial crisis and even poverty. So, the authorities feel that the kids do need some encouragement and kindness at such times.
Nicole Schlapper who is a kindergarten teacher at Colin’s schools claims that the students happily take turns to greet at the door and they love this job and do it with excitement.
She also says that the kids are allowed to use different ways to welcome like they can shake hands or bump fists. While Colin takes his turn at the door to welcome, people prefer hugging him.
The heartwarming video where the kindergarteners prefer hugging Colin while greeting him is getting viral on the internet.
Chrisstie Baker who is Colin’s mother said that Colin is a great hugger, he gives his heart to everyone who he meets and this makes me proud of him.
Waldron says that as a school, we sometimes worry about the funding and the lack of resources, but we try to balance it with love and compassion.
Many tragedies take place in our neighboring communities, but throughout all that, we prefer concentrating on the positive feedback that we get from people.
Nicole also concentrates in putting the best efforts to form her student’s mind and help them grow together. She says that she will try to stay with them always and support them in their schools and life.
