There’s a castle in a Spanish outback that you can rent for just over 20 dollars per person per night.
Constructed in the 10th century, the eight-bed castle is situated in the Girona province of Spain, at a two-hour drive from Barcelona.
The place, enough to accommodate 16 guests, is situated in the center of mountains and boasts an uninterrupted view of the natural scenery around it.
Inside the castle, there is a walled garden which is a perfect location for holding late-night dinner parties.
There’s also a chapel where you can go for Sunday service or even have your wedding planned there.
The bedroom of the castle is built of stone walls and features the classic medieval beds, giving an authentic feel of living the medieval life in the 21st century.
It is also equipped with a pulley system that can make transporting your luggage from the ground to the higher floors as easy as a piece of cake.
The castle is now owned by Marc Guinjoan who refurbished it recently. The owner told El Mundo that the castle has hosted guests from all over the world, from Australia to Singapore.
He explained how the castle is popular among eccentric travelers and fairy tale fans while referring to a booking he particularly remembered as “a bachelor party with a princess costume theme.”
To have a stay at the castle, the guests are asked to prepare in advance.
Owing to its isolated location, there is no provision for amenities you’d easily find at a normal hotel. So it is highly recommended to take some edibles with you.
The castle is situated on the top of a hill which means you’d have to trek a little to reach it, which means you need to be good at walking.
You can rent the place for as low as $330 a night and dividing that among 16 people means you are paying around $21 per head per night.
