Similar to the rest of the world, Brazil is also on the lockdown due to coronavirus.
With people being locked insides, close to 100 endangered sea turtles emerged and hatched on a Brazilian beach.
As per the report by Paulista City Hall, since there are no humans to disturb these species some 97 Hawksbill sea turtles were seen making their way to the sea.
They are among the most vulnerable species that are often at the risk of being snatched by the birds or crushed by people on the beach.
But these photographs were taken by the government that have been shared and show that these little creatures are headed back to the surf and are free of any danger.
The reports further revealed that the residents of the Pernambuco region, which is located on the north-east side of the country have been prohibited from coming on the beach in an attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus.
Herbert Andrade, the Environmental Manager at Paulista, spoke about this rare moment and said that overall 291 sea turtles were born in Paulista cost this year out of which 204 are hawksbill, and 84 are green turtles.
However, due to the restrictions imposed due to coronavirus, the birth of the turtles was not closely monitored.
Hawskills is a turtle species that can grow up to 45 inches and weigh up to 68 kgs. And according to the World Wildlife Fund or WWF, they come under critically endangered species.
The organizations said that the existence of these species is extremely important to the marine ecosystem as they help in maintaining the health of seagrass bed and coral reefs.
Pernambuco has been experiencing a rising number of coronavirus cases and multiple deaths. The state government has imposed a partial lockdown on the region in order to stop the growth curve of this virus.
