Sadiq Khan was accused of risking Londoners’ lives for the implementation of his comeback at his apparent deficit in running the city’s finance.
Khan has officially proclaimed that he would be forcing people out of their cars as he has brought back the congestion charge starting Monday, with the increased penalty fee of £15 from £11.50 in June. The charge will be imposed on weekends, a first of its kind in regards to implementation, and would be extended for 4 hour application starting 6-10pm. Interestingly enough, Sadiq Khan himself did not utilize the public transport. Instead he has been caught driving his Range Rover Discovery, paid for by the British taxpayers. The proposed taxation is implied to “make it easier for key workers to get around.” The £12.50-a-day Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge for older and more polluting vehicles will be reinstated also as of next week.
There will be a 30 percent increase in the current fare from June 1, and in June 22 the tax payers will be expecting all-weekly charge and the 10pm application. NHS workers will be exempt from this policy and would be given paybacks in return.
Sadiq Khan was quick to blame his decision on the Boris Johnson government, insisting that the £1.
1billion grant and £505million loan by Boris Johnson had been a ‘bad deal’, forcing people to take in a ‘sticking plaster’, with City Hall sources telling that there might be more taxpayer money involved in the next two months. He said: ‘I want to be completely honest and upfront with Londoners – this is not the deal I wanted.
But it was the only deal the Government put on the table and I had no choice but to accept it to keep the Tubes and buses running’.Apparently, there has been lots of complaints and disappointment coming in from Londoners, who have been taking driving to work since there was absolutely zero possibility of maintaining social distancing in public transport nowadays.
For comparison, Berlin have been utilizing 100% in its total capacity, while it managed to hand out free face masks for all passengers.
MP Andrew Bridgen exclaimed: ‘The Labour Mayor of London seems to be everything he can to sabotage the capital’s economic recovery from the Covid-crisis.First it was a lack of public transport services in cahoots with his union paymasters and now this.
This risks forcing more people on to the Tube and increasing the rate of infection again. What is Khan thinking? Londoners might wonder whose side he’s on’If you liked this article, please LIKE SHARE AND COMMENT below! And don’t forget to check our other articles along the way!
