A police officer stationed to contain the situation in London as the protests demanding justice and equal rights for all races have been pictured with his colleagues taking part in the kneeling ceremony to show colleagues and protester that the London police officers ‘are not racist’.
One member described the moment and the motivation behind it: ‘I did it because at the end of the day we’re all one.’ The unnamed officer based in north London have shown the support for the protests that have propagated across the Atlantic after the death of the 46-year-old George Floyd.
This has also been the general stance taken by the Scotland Yard as well, as they released as statement in lieu of sympathy and commiserating the ‘unjust’ death of Mr.
Floyd.
Although officers are generally asked to keep their political positions to themselves, especially at the scenes of political strife. However the officer have proclaimed: ‘I know I’m not racist and I know that my colleagues are not racist, so why not? I came into the job to help people and it was a nice gesture.A few of us decided to do it.
’
The official response and any retribution measures from the police bureau regarding the aftermath and possible penalties to these officers will come later tonight.
