These days, the obesity rate for children is increasing.
There is a teenage boy Jacob Miller who was born with a big body.
His parents didn’t take this problem seriously. However, they started worrying as he grew up bigger and bigger than other same-age mates.
Since he got the stress of bullying and mean comment from other people.
At fifteen, Jacob was weighing 715 pounds. This is quite a weight for a teenager.
He was 6’55” tall, and at this point, he started suffering from diseases like heart problems, liver disease and other conditions that come with obesity.
His parents started getting concerned. Therefore, They visited the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Tom Inge suggested gastric bypass surgery to Jacob’s parents since the procedure was the best shot at trying to solve the condition at that moment and claiming that bodies weren’t built to hold that kind of weight.
The parents agreed to this even though it made them got scared and Jacob was also up for it because he wanted to enjoy a normal life like the rest of his age mates.
He wanted to go dancing, playing and do other things. It makes him take the procedure seriously.
A few weeks before the surgery, the doctors had suggested a diet for him, and he maintained it to the latter, and as a result, he lost 77 pounds.
After six months, he had lost a lot of weight. All the way from 10X shirt, he had gone to 5X shirt and from 5X pants to 3X pants.
Jacob said he enjoyed himself because he felt he was making progress.
He went on saying that initially walking for five minutes was a problem and he could stop to rest every time, but he got a new life after the surgery, 5 minutes is not a problem anymore, and he can walk for half an hour before stopping.
The most important thing is keeping a healthy body but in case we are not successful, don’t worry.
we also have medical options we can go for that can help us as Jacob did. He showed us not giving up and how to change our lives by ourselves.
