This video below shows a 9-year-old named DJ Flores walking over to a homeless woman.
They have never met before, so it is not surprising to see her a bit confused when he comes over with a used purse in his hand.
But, what he does next with this purse is so touching and inspiring – he gives it to the woman, and when she sees what’s inside the bag, she cannot help but hug this little guy.
It was a survival kit for the homeless, which DJ thought of all by himself. And it all started with one small research school project.
During research, he came across something astonishing about the homeless population in the United States.

He found that growing demographic of homeless is largely women, and that 60% of those women were victims of domestic violence.
Even though he was little and young, DJ wanted to do something to help out these people.
So, he thought of an amazing project to help out the homeless – called “Love in Packs.”
First, D.J. began collecting used purses and handbags.
Then, with the help of his mother, he filled them with basic essentials such as toothpaste, socks, and blankets.

With these bags DJ and his mom drove around, handing them out to homeless women on the street.
“It makes me feel happy about myself and how I am helping others. My message is that you are not too little that you can’t do big things,” said DJ in an interview with CBS Dallas-Fort Worth.
Like DJ said, this heartwarming story shows that even young kids can significantly bring about changes in our community.
