This is a heartbreaking moment a loyal dog stayed next to the body of his owner who was hit by a train.
57-year-old Victor Reyna Vazquez was found lifeless on rail tracks in Montemorelos, Mexico on Sunday. When paramedics arrived, they were amazed to see the loyal dog lying next to him.
The grieving pup was cuddled up beside his owner and had to be forcibly removed so they could move the body from the tracks.
Emergency crews and police said the dog tried to bite them whenever they tried to take his owner.
Residents said Victor was an alcoholic and his pooch had accompanied him for years. It is not clear if the dog has been placed in a shelter but social media users have called for it to be adopted.
One netizen, Marychuy Zamarron, wrote: “We have a lot of things to learn from animals, and now I wonder who is more animalistic, them or us.”
Another commented: “Got 3 dogs make’s my life a lot happier to come from a hard day @ work to see the love from them and so happy to see me with their tails wagging melts my heart every time.”
