A lucky man has won the lottery and scooped the jackpot worth $200,000 on the last day of his chemotherapy treatment.
Ronnie Foster from Pink Hill, North Carolina, was as happy as one gets to know that he was about to finish his chemotherapy after being diagnosed with colon cancer.
To make the day even more exciting, the man also won $200,000 thanks to a scratch card he bought at a local gas station.
As Mr. Foster explained, he initially bought one ticket and won $5. After that, he decided to buy another one but he won nothing. Then, at the last moment, he bought two more tickets – a decision that he will praise until the rest of his life.
One of the final two tickets he bought turned out to be the key to the $200,000 jackpot.
“I saw all those zeroes and I froze. I didn’t believe it until I gave it to the clerk at the counter to scan,” the retired DoT employee said in an interview.
“When it showed, ‘Go to lottery headquarters,’ I started shaking. I couldn’t believe it.”
The man has allegedly already picked up his prize and took home over $140,000 after tax deductions.
“I was already happy because it was my last round of chemo. Winning this made it my lucky day,” Foster added.
“I have good insurance. But there is still some cost. This will make it a whole lot easier.”
As the man revealed, he got diagnosed with cancer back in January and it took him nine months to finish his chemotherapy treatment. As for the fortunate ‘Win It All’ lottery ticket, it was just a cherry on top of the cake.
