Madonna has pleasantly surprised fans who have been waiting for her to speak out in the issue of the recent worldwide movement to eradicate racism by coming onto the protest site herself while donning crutches due to her knee injury.
She has joined the protesters in London marches while she has had celebrity company such as Anthony Joshua and Boris Becker. She joined in the ranks on Saturday while still suffering from the injury she has gotten after her fall in last October while on tour.
Madonna was seen wearing a Black Lives Matter Nike t-shirt and a pair of oversized sunglasses.
Apparently, she was recognized by almost everyone who was nearby, despite her efforts to join the demonstrations comparatively incognito.Fans soon posted several pictures showing her somewhere in the frame, while praising her for ‘always being on the right side of history’.
She was captured in videos too, as she was heard shouting ‘No justice, no peace!’, alongside hundreds of protestors. One fan wrote: ‘QUEEN Madonna at the Black Lives Matter protest in London today! Always on the right side of history!’
Madonna had been suffering from a knee injury since October, and she has been searching for a cure recently.
In March, the Vogue hitmakerwrote on Instagram about hurting her knees while falling on stage two nights prior ‘when a chair was literally pulled out from underneath me by mistake and I landed on the floor on my tail bone.’ She described herself as ‘a broken doll held together with tape and glue’ as she announced she was taking some much needed bed rest.
Meanwhile, heavyweight boxing champ Anthony, 30, was also on crutches as he joined protesters in his hometown.
He said: ‘Every life matters, one hundred percent I agree with that.
But that include black lives and that’s why we’re here today. George Floyd, we’re all aware of his name, was a catalyst that is already way too long. But ask yourself a question. How does the looting for the latest flat screen TV help him or his family? How does burning down shops and taking another life stop the virus from spreading? And remember the virus we’re talking about is racism.
Killing a person outright is unforgivable. But stripping them of their human right, oppressing them, mocking them, insulting them, placing glass ceilings above them; just because of what, their skin?’
