Magic Johnson and Singer Jennifer Hudson Pay Tribute to Kobe Bryant and Daughter Gianna at the NBA All-Star Game 


People are still trying to recover from the death of the basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.

It was an unfortunate helicopter crash that took the life of the father-daughter duo.

Kobe was a role model for many youngsters out there and inspired many to pursue the game of basketball.

While people are still mourning over his death, Kobe was honored at the NBA All-Star game with the heart-felt tributes from singer Jennifer Hudson and the basketball legend Magic Johnson.

Following this, the game on Sunday in Chicago where teams captained by Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James will see players wearing jerseys honoring Kobe and his daughter Gianna.

The father-daughter duo along with seven others was killed on 26 January 2020, in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.

In his speech, Magic Johnson said that the world would never see another basketball player like Bryant. He said that the whole world is hurting and this is a tough time for the whole NBA family.

He then asked the audience in the United Center to stand, hold hands, and pay tribute to the basketball legend by observing eight seconds of silence. Eight seconds was a reference to Kobe’s jersey number, which was also eight.

Jennifer Hudson then delivered a powerful, heartfelt performance, rendering For All We Know, as photographs of Kobe were displayed behind her.

When approached James, he told reporters that all the players would have Kobe in their hearts during the game. He said that they know Kobe is watching over them.

It is their responsibility to purple and gold, not only for Kobe but for all the greats, James added. He declined to speak further about Kobe saying that it is a very sensitive subject and it wouldn’t be great if he says anything further. 

It has been three weeks since the helicopter crash where Kobe, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others were killed in Southern California.
