When people give advice to others about remaking their image or finally breaking out and making a name for themselves once the world recognizes their talents, they often make a reference about a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly.

This is because the transformation is absolutely magical. From a caterpillar that can only slowly crawl on branches and won’t win any beauty contests, once it becomes a cocoon, it will emerge as a beautiful butterfly, a creature with wings that give it the freedom to see and explore the world as it never had before. It’s easy to see why breakout stories often use this caterpillar to butterfly analogy.
But even if the transformation is used as an analogy, it is still a wonder to behold. And that’s the case here in this video that showed a birdwing butterfly in a series, from caterpillar to cocoon, to full-fledged butterfly.
The beautiful scene was observed by nature enthusiasts who were at the Walindi Resort in Papua New Guinea in order to observe the butterfly. The video chronicles the birdwing’s journey and finally, it emerged one morning in all its glory, stretching its newly acquired wings in a display that was as awe-inspiring as it was beautiful.
Birdwing butterflies are the largest butterflies in the world. In order to demonstrate this fact, one of the enthusiasts carefully placed a hand behind the butterfly so that we could get a sense of scale and realize why it’s called the “birdwing” with some even reaching wingspans of up to ten inches. What’s even more amazing is that the butterfly wasn’t skittish at all and allowed such close contact.

The way that Mother Nature has a cycle for every living being never ceases to amaze and once you recognize this fact in everything that lives on this planet, you cannot help but wonder why people constantly disregard the environment and inevitably do harm to it and ultimately, to themselves as well.
