Alba was born with Down Syndrome and her mother gave her up for adoption after she was born.
She was rejected by 20 families before Luca Trapanese, from Naples, adopted her when she was just 13 days old.
Luca, a single dad, said when he met her, he knew she was his daughter. In 2017, he was granted custody of Alba.
Luca told the BBC: “Since I was 14 years old, I have volunteered and worked with the disabled so I felt I had the right knowledge and experience to do it. When I first held her in my arms, I was overcome with joy. I felt she was my daughter straight away.”
“It was the first time I held a newborn baby. Before that moment, I have always been scared. But, when I first held Alba, I knew I was ready to be her dad.”
Luca has created an Instagram page where he documents his life with his precious daughter Alba.
After their story went viral online, people were touched by their story. Their Instagram account now has more than 133k followers.
One user wrote on one of their Instagram posts: ‘You’re an inspiration to man kind!! Honestly there should be more men like you’ while another user said: ‘This baby girl makes my heart sing.’
You can follow the father-daughter duo on Instagram (@trapaluca) where they document their journey.
This single dad is truly an inspiration! Hats off to him for making this precious girl happy.
