Alba was just a few days old when her parents put her up for adoption.
Her mother rejected to keep her when she found out her baby was born with Down syndrome.
There were so many families who didn’t want to adopt her and the little girl was rejected by several people. Luckily, a single man came in to adopt the 13-weeks-old infant and changed her life.
Luca Trapanese who always wanted to be a father but due to the law in Italy are fairly strict, and rarely are single parents approved. The story of Luca went viral with the release of a book he wrote about his life with Alba, he says ”destroys many stereotypes about fatherhood, religion and family.”
When Luca was a teenager his best friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer and Luca didn’t leave his side. He stayed with his friend till his last breath and he knows the pain of losing someone.
He decided to volunteer at a local church helping people with critical illnesses and disabilities. When he knew about Luca he was sure that he was ready to take care of a child with special needs.
Luca instantly felt the special connection with Alba when he held her in his arms for the first time. Alba is 18 months old now and she is happy with his dad Luca who loves her to the moon and back and the two share a very special bond.
The little girl has dad, friends, uncles, grandparents who give her the love she deserves.
”When I held her in my arms, I was filled with joy,” he told the BBC. ”I felt she was my daughter immediately. I knew I was ready to be her father.”
”I will spend the rest of my life with a girl I love and we will do many wonderful things together.”
