Alex, a 25-year-old British man, has never been out on a sunny day since he was a baby.
This man suffers from a very rare disease where his skin gets fried because of the UV rays falling on it. His skin is super sensitive to the sun. To protect him from this element, he was presented with a mask that looks exactly like his face. The mask can also be called his second skin, as it appears just like real skin and face.
Alex has Xeroderma Pigmentosum, a rare disease that had no cure, so he stayed in for his entire life.

Zoe Laughlin, the inventor from the show The Big Life Fix, designed and created a mask that has realistic looks. It looks just like Alex’s face. The mask is made up of silicon.
Zoe used a prosthetic camera to take thousands of pictures of Alex’s face. The pictures were put into the computer to determine the shape and specifics from his face. Then, using a 3D printer, the modal of his face was printed. Modal came out and then with its help; a plaster mold was created. From there, the final skin came out.
Anna, Alex’s mother, said she did not like her son being bound to stay indoors and thus, was very excited about the sun protection mask. The mask took 2 months to complete. The family was astonished after they had taken a look of the mask.
