A man who viciously attacked and bashed his sister’s pet dog amid drug-infused rampage won’t face jail time because the pooch survived the ordeal.

30-year-old junkie Andrew Coleman was caught on surveillance camera luring his sister’s Bull Arab, Jaboo, before holding him down and beating him.
At the time of the incident, Coleman was allegedly returning from an ice binge when he came across Jaboo.
In disturbing footage, the 30-year-old is seen pinning the defenseless animal to the ground before landing a series of punches. It isn’t until 15 seconds later the dog manages to break free of the man’s grip and run away.
Following the unprovoked assault, Coleman pleaded guilty but avoided jail time. Instead, he was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and 18 months of probation. The thug was also banned from possessing a pet for 3 years.
“The attack on Jaboo in my submission was protracted, it was callous and it was cruel,” RSPCA attorney, Mr. McLennan, said.
Coleman’s lawyer, however, defended what many believe to be a lenient sentence on the basis that the animal survived the attack.
Following the sentencing, prosecutor Tracey Jackson suggested that everyone should learn from Coleman’s mistakes and take the case as a serious warning.
“We hope that every hour this offender spends performing community service reminds him of the importance of treating animals with respect, and the consequences that can flow from committing cruelty to animals,” Jackson said.
After the cruel attack, Jaboo has been placed in the custody of RSPCA. As for Coleman, he has allegedly been receiving death threats over his malicious actions.
