Pets are almost indispensable non-human members of a family.
And even if you live far away from your family or don’t get along with them, having a pet with you can mean a world of difference. For one thing, pets don’t judge you or ridicule you for your flaws or corny jokes. Perhaps that’s why some people even prefer to have pets rather than partners!
The very presence of a pet is healing and if you’ve ever felt down, just petting your dog or cat can often lift your spirits enough to face the rest of the day. It’s no wonder then that the pet industry has become so huge.

Nowadays, it’s not enough for some people to just own a pet, they need to dress them up, kit them out, and even sign them up for competitions. It’s all part of the continually evolving relationship between humans and their animals and while there may be some negatives to that (such as rampant commercialization that can treat both people and animals alike as simple trade goods), a lot of positives still come out of that.
Of course, there are people who are just happy enough to have a pet and only go so far as teaching them to sit or fetch.point 201 |
And then there are those who either teach their pets some exotic skills (such as riding on a bike or “driving” a car) or these pets just pick up some weird skills on their own (such as suddenly mimicking the sound of an ambulance siren).point 205 |
Either way, the fruits of these endeavors can sometimes lead one to a rabbit hole of confusion and fun at the same time.point 98 | 1
One man, however, managed to teach his dog a rather unique skill and that is to eat corn on the cob together with him at the same time. We’re not really sure about the utility of this particular skill but it does impressively demonstrate the close coordination that these two have developed.
The dog on the video is a Golden Retriever named Gunner and it’s great to see him working well as a team with his owner.point 208 |
Even though corn is a nutritious food for both humans and animals and a tasty snack that any dog would love, Gunner shows enough restraint to only munch at the part that’s being presented to him, allowing his human pal to also partake of this delicious treat.point 219 | 1
It’s probably not something that every dog owner would want to teach their dog especially for those who are a bit finicky about hygiene but admittedly, this adorable duo is quite fun to watch.
