A man was arrested after giving away his position by popping a loud fart while hiding in a bush as cops were looking for him.
The bizarre incident occurred in Harworth, England, where the police showed up at the 35-year-old man’s place in order to apprehend him for failing to appear in the court.
According to the reports, the man was with his 30-year-old friend, who was also arrested for other violations, when the police appeared at his home.
While on the search for the man, the police allegedly heard him breaking wind and followed the sound that led them to his hideout in a bush.
As one of the officers later insisted, they were very lucky to hear the fart that helped them finish the manhunt.
“I was almost out of wind running but luckily [the man] still had some. I heard him letting rip and followed the noises to a bush,” the officer said according to Birmingham Live.
After the successful arrest, the Nottinghamshire Police appeared to see the funny side of it all as they took to Twitter to announce the outcome.
“ARREST: Officers come up trumps as man reveals hiding place,” they wrote in a tweet. “Officers have come up trumps after a man broke wind and revealed his hiding place.”
Naturally, people have also found the story quite amusing and came up with their own jokes and puns after the police tweet went viral.
