The Paris Police arrested a man for shouting Allahu Akbar during the screening of Joker.
According to the authorities present in the theatre, the man purposefully disturbed the proceedings of the Hollywood thriller.
The actions of the man caused severe chaos inside the theatre as people got up from their seats hurriedly and made way for exit.
The Grand Rex Theatre hosted the screening of Joker.
This incident was reported by the Le Parisien. According to Le Parisien, the 34-year old man was immediately escorted out of the Grand Rex Theatre by the authorities.
With the passage of time, various interesting details are coming out in the open.
The man first started off by shouting “It’s political.” The statement of his drew laughter from other crowd. However, various audience members asked the member to stop raising such slogans so that they can enjoy the screening peacefully.
But that is not the end of the story at all! After the “It’s political” slogan, the man placed his hands on the chest and started shouting “Allahu Akbar.”
As per various eyewitness accounts, a majority of audience members and a security guard wrestled with the man. However, he was successful in evading them.
He was later arrested in the streets by the Paris Police. After the completion of the screening, the local authorities evacuated the theatre.
The auditorium was also scanned by the Bomb Disposal Squad for the presence of explosives and firearms. But none such items were discovered.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that such an incident has taken place during the screening of Hollywood movies. A similar incident can be cited in this regard.
A young man loudly cheered and applauded the murders in a movie which made some people afraid. In New York and other major cities around the world, strict measures were undertaken for R-rated movies. No action was taken against the man in New York.
On the other hand, prior to the screening of Joker, many film critics were of the view that the movie might encourage people to undertake acts of violence.
