A man who was declared dead by doctors ‘came back to life’ while morgue workers prepared to work on him.
32-year-old Peter Kigen reportedly collapsed and was taken to Kapkatet hospital in Kenya where he was presumed dead.
But Mr. Kigen shocked morgue workers when he suddenly wailed in pain as they cut his right leg open.
According to local media, Mr. Kigen suffered a stomach problem and was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at home on November 24.
But his brother was told that the patient had passed away when they arrived at the department.
Mr. Kigen’s uncle, Denis Langat, said to local channel Citizen TV that hospital staff ‘casually checked’ on him before declaring him dead.
Mr. Kigen was transferred to a mortuary where morgue workers prepared to embalm him.
When one of the workers made an incision on his leg to infuse formalin to preserve the body, he immediately regained consciousness and started to cry in pain.
Morgue workers were left shocked and thought the man had ‘resurrected.’
Mr. Kigen was taken back to the hospital and received first aid.
While receiving treatment, he said to reporters that he was “happy to be alive and vowed to dedicate his life to evangelism.”
His furious family is now demanding justice and accused the hospital of negligence.
One person commented: “Wow. Imagine that poor morgue worker. Bit worrying that these were fully trained doctors.”
Another wrote: “This happens more than you may . It’s still truly horrific. A terrible but happy occasion if one is fortunate to wake up in time.”
A third added: “That’s the look on someone’s face that says ‘Oh thank god, I dreamt I was dead’.”
