A 24-year-old man has thrown an innocent boy off a 40-foot high balcony in Mall of America in an attempt to have revenge for getting rejected by multiple women.
Fortunately, the five-year-old who suffered broken bones because of the ruthless assailant survived the fall and is showing “real signs of recovery” according to his family.
“New test results have been positive, though he remains in intensive care with a long road ahead,” Noah Hanneman, a family friend, revealed in a GoFundMe update.
In less than a week, Good Samaritans raised nearly $1 million to assist the family in paying for the little boy’s hospital bills.
“We continue our request for privacy as we focus on Landen and thank you for respecting our wishes. Just know that we all feel your overwhelming love, prayers and support – He is answering our prayers and they ARE working,” the update read.
“Please continue to pray for Landen and his family, every single prayer is important. Thank you so much from all of us and have a blessed Easter weekend.”
Besides multiple broken bones, little Landen Hoffmann also suffered severe head trauma as he was thrown off a balcony at the Bloomington, Minnesota, shopping center.
Following the incident, 24-year-old Emmanuel Aranda was arrested and charged with attempted premeditated first-degree murder with bail set at $2 million.
According to the reports, Emmanuel told the officers he wanted to kill someone when he entered the mall as revenge for women rejecting him repeatedly over the last few years.
As the prosecutors explained, Aranda picked up Landed when the family was sitting in an outside restaurant. Before anyone could react, the 24-year-old tossed the child over the balcony.
According to the criminal complaint, Emmanuel had been visiting the mall for several years in an attempt to get a woman to fall for him. After he failed, however, he decided to take out his failure and anger on the easiest prey he could come across.
Speaking of the 24-year-old’s actions, Francis Aranda, the attacker’s uncle, said:
“He has a serious mental problem, he was diagnosed as a child.
“We are going to pray for that baby because what happened is so unfortunate, but it’s going to bring light to mental illness, I hope he doesn’t go to jail, he needs help.”
