Just imagine you are going to get your dream car with all the excitement and anticipation but when you reach there, it has a BJ69 number plate.
What would you do?
For the ones who have a sense of humor, this number plate is something to be taken lightly (some would even count it as a bonus on the new van).
But the person we’re talking about right now clearly did not like the number plate. In fact, he disliked it so much that he went back home without the vehicle.
According to a spokesperson for Vanarama, the man was about to take home a new Nissan NV400 from their Birmingham showroom a week back but he canceled the deal because the license plate looked ‘too rude’ to him.
The spokesperson said: “A Vanarama customer was left stunned after DVLA issued a ‘BJ69’ plate for his brand-new van. He rejected the brand new van as the number plate was too rude.”
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has a detailed list of all vehicle number plates which are amusing to read, or annoying for some people.
The DVLA does not allow any sexually suggestive, offensive or racist combination of numbers and letters to be used as license plate numbers.
Vanarama officer Andy Anderson was quite angry on how such a number passed all the screening before ending up on a vehicle.
Anderson said in a statement: “Oh dear DVLA – a customer of ours rejected their van yesterday because they weren’t happy with the number plate that was allocated to them.
“BJ is the prefix that has been designated to our dealer in Birmingham by the DVLA – thankfully we quickly sorted this for the customer, but will it be the last?
“Every year the DVLA make a song and dance about censoring naughty number plates, but somehow they’ve decided ‘BJ69’ isn’t too much.”
He further added: “While we’ve got a sense of humor about these things, one of the reasons our customers love Vanarama is because a brand new van is the best way of making a good impression with clients.
“Given this, we can understand that some customers might have some concerns about a number plate that looks like a quote from the Kama Sutra. We’ll be raising this with the DVLA.”
Replaced!
