A man who ditched chemotherapy claims he was ‘essentially cancer free’ after using cannabis oil.
George Gannon was told he had only months to live as he had 12 brain tumors. But both he and his doctor were surprised when his latest MRI revealed he had defeated cancer.
The 30-year-old from Hampshire, UK said he used cannabis oil last December and decided to stop chemo. For three months, he used cannabis oil to treat himself. His MRI showed his tumors had stopped growing.
He then resumed a lower dose of chemo in late April and his most MRI earlier this month revealed he managed to beat cancer.
“It was quite surreal, I was shaking like a leaf. It was the best news we could have ever imagined,” he told the Southern Daily Echo.
“Back in December I was told I probably wouldn’t survive. The doctor literally said it was the best day of his medical career. Now I’m ‘essentially’ cancer free in less than a year.”
The NHS prescribed him with powerful chemotherapy tablets when he got the diagnosis. However, his health deteriorated rapidly.
“The medication I was being subscribed was literally destroying me. I looked like the poster person for cancer, I was so ill. It all got very dark,” he explained.
“It felt as though the doctors assumed I didn’t have long left and just kind of gave up. There were talks of me going into a hospice at one point.”
He and his girlfriend, Natalie, checked other ways to treat cancer and paid $1,588 a month for cannabis oil which he used 3 times daily.
“I started to feel like a completely new person but I had no idea if I was well or not. I suddenly had more energy and was behaving like normal, I could tell something had shifted but I wasn’t sure,” he said.
“The long-awaited MRI results simply blew the doctors minds, not to mention ours. In short, I am essentially cancer-free in less than a year and they want to write journals and all sorts.”
He added: “When you have cancer, you never fully get rid of it. I don’t want to hype it up too much but it’s more than obvious cannabis oil works well. I mean, it’s cleared 12 tumours in less than a year.”
According to the website of charity Macmillan: “It is still unclear whether using cannabis has any anti-cancer effects. But there is some evidence that the chemicals in cannabis might help with symptoms such as nausea and pain.
“But these studies have had mixed results when used in clinical trials. Because of the mixed results, the general feeling of experts is that there needs to be more research into the chemicals found in cannabis and their possible benefit.”
