A man has sparked an online debate after he was caught on camera standing and watching vegan protestors while enjoying KFC’s fried chicken.
The short footage was uploaded to TikTok where people were left divided by the young man’s actions whereas some praised him for standing up to vegans while others branded him disrespectful and childish.
“Meat eating protest in Sydney gets a hungry visitor,” the caption of the video read.
The incident occurred in front of the Town Hall in Sydney whereas the man in question slowly walked up to the action and began observing the protestors belonging to the group called Anonymous for the Voiceless while eating his chicken.
Meanwhile, the activists were wearing blindfolds and masks and showing off screens with disturbing content related to the meat industry.
“Why do people think it’s cool to lack empathy for other lives and then make fun of people that actually care? I’m genuinely curious,” one upset viewer slammed the man in the video after the footage went viral.
“Let them do their thing and move on, there’s no need to confront them for attempting to save innocent lives,” another one wrote.
However, not everyone was on-board with the critics whereas one user joked by turning the tables on the protestors:
“Very childish. He’s peacefully eating chicken, and whether you agree with him or not, they should be respectful,” they wrote.
Promoting the protest on Facebook before its due date was Animal Rights Activism Sydney who invited people to join the movement under the promise that they’ll be provided with all the resources needed to raise awareness about the truth behind the meat industry.
“The Cube of Truth is a peaceful static demonstration aimed at revealing the realities of Australian animal agriculture and facilitating engagement with the public through vegan outreach,” ARAS wrote.
As the vegan-based website explained, “by wearing the mask, activists are together with the trillions of animals that are unnecessarily exploited and killed every year by the globalized animal-food industries.”
