If you wake up with a feeling of the wonderful and relaxed morning, just think about clock collector Roy West, who will have to set his 5,000 clocks back an hour.
Roy West, 75, from Hampshire has a huge collection of clocks, and he has to adjust all his clocks in sync with Greenwich Mean Time.
Roy, collecting the clocks for nearly 40 years and spends five hours in adjusting every time the clocks go back or forward.
The collection has covered the walls of the flat he lives in with his wife Pauline, 68.
There are 25 Westminster clocks which chime every 5 minutes, four times per hour, 24 hours per day.
Roy loves his clocks so much that he keeps 30 by his bedside. He has no chance to excuse for missing his alarm.
Roy, adjust all the clocks to fit with GMT every half-year and it is something that wouldn’t change for the world.
He said: “It’s a long job but I don’t mind. I don’t want any telling the wrong time.
“I start in the bedroom because I have the most in there. That takes an hour and a half.
“I then go into the living room and that takes an hour, then the hallway, kitchen, bathroom, and the cupboards. Finally, I do the spare room, which takes another hour.”
He started collecting timepieces in 1980 after he got annoyed when his boss chucked one clock in the bin.
He explained: “All of a sudden I started looking around charity shops, picking up clocks and buying them.
“Pauline brings home a new pack of batteries every time she goes to the shops.”
As for the ticking and chiming, he added: “You get used to it.”
This is interesting, but sometimes you may be worried where you’d put a cup of tea down. Because you find a clock everywhere.
You can find 60 clocks only in his bathroom.
Well, it is his hobby, and we appreciate him for his dedication.
