A man who was born with no collarbones has spoken out about his condition as he branded it “awesome” for allowing him to do unusual things.
Corey Bennett is a young man from Indiana, United States, who grew up with cleidocranial dysplasia. The rare genetic condition affects various bones and teeth and causes them to form differently than usual. In certain cases, such as in Corey’s case, some bones may be missing entirely.
While the young man was often picked on and bullied over his missing collarbones while growing up, he has not only come to accept himself but now also believes that his condition is “awesome” because it allows him to do things that other people can’t.
“I was bullied most of my life for being short and having bad teeth and a big head. I have embraced this condition because it’s really awesome – even with cleidocranial dysplasia I am still able to do everything,” he said in an interview with LADbible.
The young man also started a TikTok account where he frequently amazes his followers with videos in which he’s seen clapping and smashing things with his shoulders.
“I started the ‘shoulder clapping until I’m famous’ one day in my dorm room because I saw people doing different things with a series of days until they’re famous – so, boom, there was a good way of making content until I’m famous!” Corey added.
As it happens, his idea isn’t bad at all, and the young man has already managed to rack up more than 63,000 followers and over 2.4 million likes on his channel.
“I’ve had many people with this condition reach out to me thanking me. I’ve also had lots of support from all people around the world complimenting me for sharing true body positivity,” Corey concluded.
While some people continue bullying him and making inappropriate comments, the young man refuses to slow down. As he vowed, he will not stop sharing videos in an attempt to spread awareness about his condition.
