25-year-old Connor Reed, an English teacher from Wales who contracted coronavirus in Wuhan, said that he managed to shake off the killer virus with honey and hot whiskey.
Reed contracted the infection two months ago and went to a hospital in the Chinese city after experiencing a severe cough with difficulty breathing.
“I used the inhaler which helped control the cough and drank a hot whisky with honey until that ran out,” Reed shared.
In an interview with The Sun, the English teacher said: “It’s an old fashioned remedy but it seemed to do the trick. I did refuse to take the antibiotics the doctors prescribed me because I didn’t want to take any medicines.”
Reed said it was only after he had been out of the Chinese hospital that doctors told him he had coronavirus. The Foreign Office were also ‘disinterested’ when he informed them about his condition.
“They kept asking if I wanted a place on a flight out but I said no. I’ll stick it out here. I am proof coronavirus can be beaten,” he expressed.
Reed described Wuhan as a ghost town with pharmacists running out of masks and medicine and supermarkets running out of groceries.

Another wrote: “time to stop the mania about this non event virus with a very very low death rate when a realistic figure of the infected is considered. There should be a vaccine for the extra vulnerable soon anyway. 18 million people dies of cancer in 2018 and worldwide 400000 died from the common flu. Need perspective and sanity for this not hysteria.”
A third added: “In rare cases flu can kill people who are otherwise healthy. In the UK it is estimated that an average of 600 people a year die from complications of flu.”
