A man has been slammed over his ‘cruel’ proposal prank to his girlfriend of six years.
Hannah Luck shared the heartbreaking clip online which showed her boyfriend getting down on one knee with a small box in his hand.
Believing there was a ring inside, she burst into tears as her family watched the romantic scene.
But Hannah immediately realized that it was just a prank when her boyfriend opened the box to reveal a pair of earrings.
In the viral video, her boyfriend appeared like he was about to pop the question in front of their excited family.
Hannah then cried tears of joy as she covered her face in shock, waiting for the words “Will you marry me?”
But instead of saying the famous line, her boyfriend said: “I love you so much, it’s been six years. Will you please… take these earrings?”
He then opened the lid to show two sparking earrings, and she exclaimed “I knew it!” as she reached out for the gift.
The video has been viewed over 1.3 million times and was met with negative comments from people who were not amused by the prank.
“That’s so wrong on a lot of levels six years honey wake up if he wanted to he would instead he joked,” one TikTok user wrote.
“It be funny if it were six months but she was probably expecting it at six years bro this is heart breaking,” another commented.
“6 years? Heck if a man didn’t know within a year with me I moved on. But everyone is different and I respect that,” a third added.
Hannah has since confirmed that the ‘proposal’ was filmed last Christmas and they are now engaged.
