A man has been arrested after he filmed himself tying his dog to helium balloons and letting it float away.
Gaurav Sharma shared a video of his pet Pomeranian dog named Dollar to his four million subscribers on YouTube.
But the 32-year-old quickly faced backlash from animal rights groups and pet owners.
The video shows Sharma and a woman trying different techniques to make Dollar float. Then, they climb on top of the car and released the dog, who ended up crashing into a balcony while they laughed from the ground.
The YouTuber immediately removed the video after receiving negative comments and complaints.
He then shared another clip in which he apologized and claimed he had ‘taken all safety measures’ before doing the stunt.
Sharma said, as per Metro: “I admit my mistake, but I personally had taken all the safety measures. I love my pet like my child. It was the wrong content that has gone out I am also a pet lover. I got influenced by seeing some video from outside.
“I apologise if you felt bad after watching the Dollar video. I won’t try such things again. Those who’re getting influenced by such things, please don’t get influenced. If sentiments have been hurt, I truly seek your apology.”
The Deputy Commissioner of Police has confirmed that the YouTuber ahs been arrested and detained under animal cruelty laws.
“He has been arrested on the charges of animal cruelty by risking the pet dog’s life via video making,” he said.
One person commented: “YouTube and the likes make stars out of people who really shouldn’t get any attention.”
Another wrote: “these attention seeking youtubers are an example of what is WRONG in this digital age.”
