A man who was caught pushing a fridge down a cliff in Spain has been charged with a heavy fine, besides an exhausting penalty.

Cops ordered the man to haul the fridge back up the hill since it was inappropriate to get rid of the appliance in a way that pollutes the environment.

The incident took place in the southern Almeria region.

Before being confronted by the cops, the man was seen cheering and jesting with an accomplice.

The fella was seen unloading the refrigerator from a van before dumping it down the cliff in a video shared online by the Spanish Civil Guard – the Asociación Unificada de Guardias Civiles (AUGC).

“Recycling… Let’s recycle it,” he can be heard in the video clip. “Let’s see how many flips it can do!”

Without revealing his identity, the AUGC said the man was a worker in a company that dispenses home appliances and electronic equipment.

In punishment for what he did, the guy was forced by the officers to pull the abandoned fridge back up the cliff.

As if it wasn’t enough, he was also fined $50,000 by the authorities for what they say was ‘a crime against nature.’

The officials also shared the clip in which the man was seen retrieving the fridge.

The authorities are still investigating the incident to further learn about the company the guy worked for. If found involved in the practice of throwing away old and defective devices rather than properly disposing of them, the firm could face substantial charges.

“The investigation is still open, because the Civil Guard discovered that the company [the man works for] could also be committing a crime against nature,” the AUGC said.

The AUGC also shared another video in which a man was seen dumping an old washing machine by following the same approach as that of the fridge guy.

The second fella, however, hasn’t yet been fined as the investigation is still underway.

Ever since the original clip went viral, the internet users have been rebuking the Spanish officials for setting an ‘excessive’ fine.

“His fine is more than justified,” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another commented: “And where will he get the 45 thousand euros if he has been fired?”
