A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison at Glasgow’s High Court after killing his girlfriend, Neomi Smith.
Keith Rizzo stabbed his 23-year-old girlfriend, Neomi Smith over 26 times in Brechin, Scotland last year in June because she danced with someone else.
Neomi was found with 26 stab wounds and 32 blunt force injuries. There were glass and debris all over the kitchen and Neomi was found with a knife at her left leg.
She was lying on her front between the fridge and the tumble dryer.
Keith then lied and told the police that two mystery men killed his girlfriend, Neomi and fled the scene after killing her.
However, a jury unanimously agreed that Keith himself killed his girlfriend after they caught him lying so many times.
Keith has now been sentenced to life in prison for the murder with a minimum of 22 years.
Judge Lady Rae said in her sentencing statement that Keith became angry when he spotted his girlfriend dancing with others after they attended a local agricultural show.
Judge Lady Rae said: “So angry were you that you pushed a table over and the deceased left the bar. Shortly after, you followed her home and so enraged were you that, you kicked in the flat door.”
Keith denied killing his partner, Neomi but admitted he was embarrassed by her behavior and described her as a “disrespectful’ and “provocative” person.
He also said he just wanted to sort things out.
After Keith was sentenced to life in prison, Neomi’s family released a statement and said no sentence could be long enough for this vile person and described losing Neomi as a devastating experience.
The statement read: “So, for her to be brutally killed at the hands of Keith Rizzo has devastated us all, he never even knew her given the short period of time they were together.”
