36-year-old Steven Newland from New Zealand made use of four regular Christmas trees, several feet of wire, and a fog machine among other things to create the beast with the touch of a festive season.

While he started working on the 5.9-foot Godzilla last year, the tree wasn’t ready for auction until this year.

As Steven explained, he felt inspired to create Godzilla out of Christmas trees because his nephew loves monsters.

“This 1.8m tree is shaped like Godzilla, which breaths smoke, it is definitely something unique. Made out of four Christmas trees, chicken wire, green mesh, 1x fog machine, plastic teeth, and paper claws,” the man’s ad, which was posted on trademe, read.

“The fog machine works with a remote-control and comes with spare fog machine fluid. Lights can easily be removed, and the Christmas hat is not needed if you want to use the tree for something else.

“Comes with a box of spare of branches and dinosaur stockings. Also note a stand is needed to hold the treezilla up (I have covered this with a xmas present so it is not noticeable).

“This tree is a bit awkward to move around so would recommend a few people to help move it, I would recommend a van or enclosed trailer to transport it if driving out of town.”

Shortly after his listing went viral, Steven received over thirty bids and sold the one-of-a-kind Christmas tree for USD $273. Allegedly, he also donated all of the earnings to a children’s charity.

“This year’s tree is still under wraps (excuse the pun). I can tell you that it involves 5 meters of chain, a beer crate, and I had to buy a ceiling fan,” Steven said in an interview with Bored Panda, suggesting that future projects like Godzilla Christmas tree are inevitable.

“My favorite project was the PacMan tree. Mainly because of the logistics of building it and working through the maze of all the lights. I can’t remember how many, but it was in the hundreds,” he added of his previous creation.
