A 39-year-old man, from Shenley, Herts, was hit on the neck by a wayward rocket during a fireworks display at his Birmingham home.
A father-of-two Neil Sjollema bought a packet of fireworks from Aldi and during a fireworks display in his garden, a wayward rocket hit on his neck, leaving him with a mark.
Neil had invited some friends and their children over for a mini fireworks display in his garden.
He set off the Roman candle, wheel, mines, aerial shot tubes, rockets, multi-shots, and fountains in his garden during a fireworks display and when he was watching the display, a wayward rocket hit on his neck.
A woman can be heard saying in the video: “Oh my God! S***! Kids, I think you better get in! Where are the kids?”
The rocket that hit on his neck left him with a mark.
Neil later said that it was a funny incident and the rocket didn’t hurt him too much. He said that he was just worried about the children.
He also said that the incident won’t stop him from setting off fireworks again.
Neil told Birmingham Live: “That was pretty funny looking back, there was an initial panic but it made for a fun night! I had some friends and their kids over to have a mini firework display in the garden, after buying a set.”
“The whole thing literally went off with a bang – and then one of the rockets hit me! It didn’t hurt too much actually, as I think I was full of adrenaline and wanted to make sure the kids were safe.”
“It won’t stop me trying again next year!”
Neil bought the fireworks from Aldi supermarket which had the warning: “Always read firework instructions carefully before use.”
